DNA from one of the suspects in the Meredith Kercher murder investigation has been discovered in the Coulsdon student's handbag.
The forensic evidence is said to belong to former basketball player 20-year-old Rudy Guede and is thought to be his sweat.
Although not formally charged Guede is being held by Italian authorities while police investigate the former Old Palace pupil's death.
Meredith, who had been studying in Perugia, Italy, was found semi-naked and with her throat cut at her digs on November 2 last year.
Three people, including Guede are being held in custody as part of the murder investigation.
They are American student Amanda Knox, 20, who shared a house with Meredith, and Knox's boyfriend, 24-year-old Italian Raffaele Sollecito.
All three suspects deny they played any part in Meredith's death.
Knox's parents recently defended their daughter on US TV show Good Morning America.
