Eagles striker James Scowcroft has refused to set himself a goal target for the season despite netting again against Southampton on Saturday.
Scowcroft's shot on the turn with twenty minutes left was his eighth of the season, compared to just five for the entire previous campaign.
But the big front man said he had no expectation for how many he would like to net before May.
He said: "I never set targets as you never know what's around the corner. It's best just to keep going and going.
"It was nice to score. I thought it could be the winner but it just wasn't to be."
The 32-year-old striker has been in fine form since Neil Warnock took over but only narrowly avoided a lengthy spell on the sidelines last week after discovering a problem with his achilles.
The former Leicester man played down the injury though.
"It's fine. I just had a sore achilles for the last two or three weeks, so it's just a case of managing it and maybe missing a couple of days training but on matchdays it's ok."
Scowcroft was also pleased that his contract extension came into effect after making his 25th appearance of the season last month.
He said: "I'm quite happy with the extension. It gives you that little bit of security, and I'm very happy at the club."
