DNA taken from semen found on a newspaper article about Sally Anne Bowman's brutal death was linked to that found on the model's body, the Old Bailey heard.

Police found articles from the Croydon Guardian, Evening Standard and Daily Mail reporting Sally Anne's killing discarded in a bin in Woodplace Lane, Coulsdon, where Dixie had lived with his cousin in February 2006.

Chef Mark Dixie, 37, has pleaded not guilty to murdering the Croydon teen, whose body was found in Blenheim Crescent in September 2005 but admitted having sex with her corpse.

The court was told Sally Anne had been repeatedly stabbed in the abdomen and neck in such a savage attack the weapon had passed through her body three times.

In total she had 10 stab wounds. The fatal wound almost completely severed the carotid artery in her throat, while another passed through her spine and voice box.

A postmortem examination revealed that lumps of concrete had been placed in Sally Anne's mouth and vagina.

The court was told that police searched for Dixie's personal belongings following his arrest at Ye Olde Six Bells Pub in Horley on June 26, 2006.

They found a rucksack and suitcase in a barn at the pub where Dixie lived and worked.

Inside the suitcase was a digital camera which had a video file showing a man watching a porn film and masturbating over a picture of Sally Anne which appeared on the front page of the Daily Mail.

When police carried out a search of Woodplace Lane, Coulsdon, they found discarded newspaper articles from the Croydon Guardian and Evening Standard reporting Sally Anne's death as well as a copy of the Daily Mail's front page which had a sticky substance over it.

Forensic tests on the substance revealed a link to the DNA taken from semen found on Sally Anne's body.

Prosecutor Brian Altman told the court: "When police searched the barn next to Ye Olde Six Bells pub where he kept his belongings, they found a digital camera in his suitcase.

"One of the video films showed a pornographic film playing on a television in the front room of Woodplace Lane, while a man records himself masturbating and ejaculating over the front page of the Daily Mail which was bearing a photograph of Sally Anne Bowman."

He added: "His (Dixie's) defence to the murder is quite fantastic, a smoke screen to fool you twelve into believing he did not kill Sally Anne."

The trial continues.
