Passengers who were on a plane that crash-landed at Heathrow have reportedly been given free Gold Cards.

The 136 travellers have also been promised free upgrades for a year from the airline, according to The London Paper.

Earlier this week, it emerged that passengers aboard the flight are considering legal action, according to a lawyer who says she has been approached to seek compensation.

Solicitor Sally Moore said she had been approached by a couple of passengers who were on the flight that crashed on January 17.

Ms Moore, who is head of the accidents and disasters department at law firm Leigh Day and Co, said passengers could be in line for compensation payouts of £80,000 each.

The Executive Club Gold Card, offering benefits including speedy check-in and bonus air miles, is second only to the Premier card owned by VIP fliers like Sir Elton John.

A BA spokesman said: "We are in touch with all the customers who were onboard BA 38 and are talking to them individually about their specific needs and requirements.

"We have offered passengers the opportunity to attend the Fear of Flying course should they be interested in doing so."
