Met Police match-winner Craig Carley revealed a half-time rocket from boss Jimmy Cooper inspired their 2-1 win over visitors Sittingbourne on Saturday.
Goals from James Greenaway and Carley turned the game on its head after the Blues looked set to slump in a battle of Ryman Division One South play-off hopefuls.
And after the Police stormed to third in the table, Carley admitted the boss had every right to vent his feelings.
He said: "We were poor in the first half and we had a few harsh words from Jimmy at half-time.
"It was a tight game but we did not play as well as we know we can.
"To come back and win the game is fantastic - it was a big, big win for us."
Carley is being relied upon for goals at the moment after Dave Stevens returned to Leatherhead.
And the striker admitted his was not an easy task.
He added: "It can be difficult as a lot of the time I am playing on my own up front.
"But our defence is good and we are not conceding many goals at the moment.
"The boys at the back are winning all the battles for us and taking some of the pressure off me."
The Blues will look to crank up the pressure on the top two, Dover Athletic and Tooting & Mitcham, when they head to Worthing on Saturday.
Carley added: "Worthing beat us earlier in the season so we will be looking for revenge.
"The spirit amongst the team is excellent at the moment.
"Dover have slipped up lately and Tooting are still catchable.
"All we can do is keep on winning and see where it take us."
