Walton & Hersham boss Les Cleeveley refused to hit the panic button after his side conceded a last-gasp equaliser at Burgess Hill on Saturday.
The 1-1 draw dented the Swans' Ryman Division One South play-off hopes after they had taken a first-half lead through Jon Neal.
And Cleeveley admitted his side had ridden their luck.
Cleeveley said: "Their goal was coming, to be honest.
"As good as we played in the first half we were as bad in the second half.
"We sat back and they missed quite a lot of chances.
"The players have to learn the lesson about how it went wrong and why it went wrong.
"We need to know when to close up shop.
"I could not fault the team in terms of commitment - we just showed a bit of naivety.
"But Burgess Hill are a good side so I am not too disappointed."
With other results going their way at the weekend, the Swans did not lose any ground in the play-off hunt, ahead of struggling Chatham Town's visit to Stompond Lane on Saturday.
Cleeveley added: "Although it has not yet got to the stage when it would be a disaster if we slipped up, the home games are the ones we have to win."
* Walton & Hersham will be holding academy trials at the end of the month in a bid to unearth the next generation of talent.
