Regarding your reporting on the expansion and third runway at Heathrow (Staines Guardian, January 31), you reported that Councillor Colin Davis was "jeered" when he said: "Here are the views of those who run the place" and "you are unrepresentative".
Well, Coun Davis does not represent the people who put him there in the first place, kowtowing to BAA, and saying thousands of jobs will be lost if the expansion does not go ahead.
They said that about terminal three and also about terminal four, and now terminal five.
Heathrow started as a "pussycat"; now it's an animal that is bulldozing its way through, creating human misery.
And as for union leader Charlie Keen to say "we support the expansion", where was the union when Gate Gourmet workers went on unofficial strike?
The strike is folklore now, but rumours abound that the union were in cahoots with Gate Gourmet and with the blessing of BA. So Charlie-boy, don't come out with that old chesnut.
I have seen Heathrow grow around me for the last 50 years and all these anti-expansion lobbies come to nothing - it's a forgone conclusion it will happen.
