A man accused of slashing a pensioner across the face at a petrol station appeared in court on Tuesday.
Wesley Johnson, 22, of Leighton Street, Croydon, was remanded in custody to appear at Croydon Crown Court on March 28 for a plea and case management hearing.
He was charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, affray and attempted robbery following the alleged attack at the BP garage in Mitcham Road, Croydon, on January 27.
Robert Reid, 80, and his wife Mary, 70, had stopped at the garage around 8pm. While Mrs Reid went inside to pay, her husband was allegedly dragged from the vehicle and slashed on his face and hands.
