Neighbours saw a woman burning to death after a fire broke out in her Sunbury home.
As the Staines Guardian went to press, the woman, believed to be in her 60s, had not been identified as her body was so badly burnt that dental records were being sourced to confirm her identity.
A witness, who did not wish to be named, said neighbours had seen the woman trapped inside her Heathcroft Avenue house and on fire. She said: "It's very sad, very sad. My husband was in the kitchen when he realised there was a fire in the road. He came to the front door and realised sadly that she was at the window (and on fire).
"He was shocked and on the phone straightaway when he realised what was going on.
"When you see something like that all sorts of things go through your mind.
"The fire department said do not go near the house, but you really wish you could have done something."
The incident happened at 10.50pm on Friday, February 1.
The cause of the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
