Kingston train station has reopened after a woman was hit by a train this afternoon.
British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed a woman, believed to be in her 60s, from Richmond, was hit by the 12.27pm London Waterloo circular train at 1.07pm after leaning over the platform with her shopping.
Kingston station was closed for 90 minutes to allow ambulance crews to free the woman from under the train.
She was airlifted to The Royal London hospital, Whitechapel, with a dislocated shoulder and head injuries.
A BTP spokeswoman said the incident was being treated as an accident and trains were able to run normally through the station from 2.18pm.
