A pedestrian was airlifted to hospital after he was hit by a car in Ewell this morning.
Police say the 19-year-old, a student at Nescot College, was knocked down around 9am as he left the college in Reigate Road and crossed the road.
He sustained a broken right shoulder and bruising to his head, neck and spine.
The air ambulance landed in nearby playing fields and took the New Malden teen to East Surrey Hospital, Redhill, for treatment.
Reigate Road remained closed between Longdown Lane North and the Ewell bypass until the afternoon while accident investigators were at the scene. Nescot College remained open as normal.
It is the second accident in Reigate Road this year. A cyclist suffered multiple fractures after a collision with a car near the junction of Longdown Lane North on New Year's Day.
Anyone who witnessed the accident should call Sergeant Charlesworth at Surrey Police's roads policing unit in Godstone on 0845 125 2222.
