Three men who conducted a campaign of violent street robberies across south London have been sentenced to a decade in prison between them.

The group targeted individuals as they made their way home from nights out between 11pm and 2am, often continuing to kick and punch their victims after they had surrendered their property.

Sutton police linked the three men to 23 offences in Sutton, Twickenham, Hammersmith, Wandsworth, Fulham, Kingston, Merton, Croydon and Surrey.

At Kingston Crown Court on February 8, Gavin Luchowa, 21, of Westmoreland Drive, Sutton, was sentenced to three years prison, having previously pleaded guilty to seven counts of robbery.

He was joined by Dumansani Makwanya, 18, of Grove Road, Sutton, who was sentenced to three years and eight months after pleading guilty to eight counts of street robbery.

The youngest member of the group, aged just 17, admitted eight counts of street robbery and was sentenced to three years and four months in prison.

The group's demise came when they were stopped and arrested driving through Fulham on August 29 and were found in possession of mobile phones from a recent robbery.

Detective Sergeant John Nolan, of Sutton CID, said the sentences were the result of a number of boroughs working together to combat crime.

"These three men were part of a group who routinely roamed the streets of south west London searching for vulnerable victims to rob and using excessive force to commit those robberies."
