Refering to last month's article in the Staines Guardian regarding expansion at Heathrow, I felt I must write to Mr Wilshire.

The article says about 75 per cent of your constituents support the new terminal at Heathrow. I wonder where these figures come from.

While discussing the subject with friends, family and acquaintances in the area, I have not found anyone who agrees with it. In fact, nearly everyone is upset and annoyed.

Of course big business is not concerned about air quality. And of course, it is not big business that is kept awake by the constant noise of aircraft and having to sleep with windows closed on hot summer nights.

What I would ask is how do all these extra people get to and from the airport?

It is already a nightmare. One accident on the M25 and hundreds of people cannot make their flight. This also means misery for local residents.

The coach services into and out of the airport are not very convenient.

The underground? Well, we all know what a farce it is. It runs when it wants to and stops with no warning.

I'm sorry Mr Wilshire, but I believe on this occasion you have got it completely wrong.
