Celebrities and fashion industry experts gave a warm welcome to veteran designer Vivienne Westwood when she returned to London Fashion Week after a nine-year absence.
In a dazzling show, the woman credited with bringing punk fashion into the mainstream showed off her autumn-winter Red Label collection to a packed crowd.
Dame Vivienne, who lives in Clapham, showed off an impressive selection from her second line of women's wear which she launched in 1994.
Models including Lily Donaldson and Daisy Lowe took to the catwalk at the Old Sorting House in central London.
She said: "The best thing about being back in London was that I really had the time to work on the show. It wasn't like when you go to Paris and you just have to do it."
Off the catwalk, celebrities including Jodie and Jemma Kidd, Kelly Osbourne, Kimberley Stewart, Lily Allen and Jefferson Hack were among the crowd clamouring for a look at the designer's work.
Make-up artist Jemma Kidd said she was excited that Dame Vivienne had decided to take part in London Fashion Week again.
"Sometimes it needs someone as big and influential as Vivienne to say 'come on, come back'. Hopefully other British designers will come back now," she said.
The Prime Minister's wife Sarah Brown launched Fashion Week on Sunday, describing the shows as a celebration of British confidence.
Fashion industry experts and celebrities including Jamelia have descended on the capital for shows such as that of Jenny Packham. Julien Macdonald will wrap up the event on Friday night.
