The decision to impose parking restrictions around Teddington Station is to be scrutinised before it is formally approved next month after councillors told the borough's transport chief to look at it again.
Last week, Councillor David Trigg, Richmond Council cabinet member for traffic, transport and parking, introduced a new controlled parking zone in Teddington, from 8.30am to 10.30am, Monday to Friday.
The new zone was set to be in Adelaide Road, Albert Road, Bridgeman Road, Cedar Road, Christchurch Avenue, Station Road, Victoria Road, and sections of Clarence Road, High Street, Park Road and Waldegrave Road but the Teddington Society approached members of the council environment and scrutiny committee asking them to call for the decision to be looked at again.
This week, Councillors Paul Hodgins and Martin Seymour called in the decision on the grounds there has been insufficient transparency in the consultation and the zone had been imposed in roads, or parts of roads, that voted against the scheme and not in some that voted for.
The scrutiny committee will debate the issue next month and Coun Trigg can either replicate the committee's view, partially accept them or ignore them.
