Met Police 2 Horsham YMCA 0 Metropolitan Police striker Craig Carley set this game alight after only three minutes.
Steve Sargeant chipped the ball into the 6 yard box to an unmarked Carley. He controlled the ball, swivelled and drove it into the back of the net past two despairing defenders. On 29 minutes came the second goal.
Leon Johnson sprinted down the left wing and sent over a cross which Carley leapt at like a salmon and headed the ball into the roof of the net from seven yards out.
Without a doubt the most spectacular shot of the game came late in the first half. Police defender Dave Newman strode upfield and from all of 30 yards drove the ball with his left foot goal bound.
Only a brilliant one handed diving save from Chris Winterton kept the ball out of the net. A shot which deserved a goal.Ben Fillery on the stroke of half time could have pulled one back for the visitors but his 6 yard volley went straight into the long arms of Police goal keeper Will Packham.
The second half found Horsham YMCA looking by far the more dangerous side. Straight from the re-start Andy Ottley on as substitute ran past three Police defenders and was unlucky when his 10 yards drive was deflected for a corner by the trailing legs of goal keeper Packham.
Worse was still to come for Ottley later in the game. He again broke free and his shot was brilliantly pushed up onto the bar by Packham. Greg Palmer following in had an empty goal to aim at but his header hit the bar from only three yards out.
Defender Dean Carden for the visitors had a 22 yard shot just tipped over the bar by Packham.
Jame Grant's 20 yards drive also had simliar treatment by Packham. With the game into stoppage time James Greenaway sent Martyn Lee away but somehow from only 15 yards out he drove the ball over the bar. It was one of those games.
Attendance: 71.
