A PERSON is in hospital and 150 others were evacuated after a car fire at a shopping centre in Croydon.
The blaze happened in Frith Road car park at Centrale shopping centre just after 10.30am today.
An ambulance crew, an incident response officer, a medic in a fast response car and a hazardous area response team were called to the scene.
Three fire engines and some 15 firefighters also attended.
Around 150 people were evacuated from the shopping centre as a precaution.
One person was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.
The car was destroyed by the fire.
The incident was under control shortly after 11.30am.
A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: “We treated a patient at the scene and took them as a priority to hospital.”
London Fire Brigade said: “We were called at 10.32 to a car fire, which was alight following a collision in the car park of the shopping centre.
“Three fire engines and around 15 firefighters attended, and the incident was under control by 11.34am.”
