Furious Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock has placed striker Shefki Kuqi on the transfer list and fined him two weeks wages for the rude gesture he made to fans when subbed on Saturday.

The decision to take the big Finn off in the 69th minute against Wolves was greeted with the loudest cheer of the afternoon by home fans, to which Kuqi reacted badly and made the crude gesture as he left the pitch.

Although the £2.5million signing from Blackburn has apologised to the fans, Warnock fined him two weeks wages and put him on the transfer list almost immediately.

He said: "He has apologised to me and the fans, obviously after the horse has bolted.

"I've fined him two weeks wages and transfer listed him. I don't accept things like that. I realise he was disappointed and it's not nice at times but you can't go off like that.

"I don't accept that. The situation wasn't nice for any player, but you just cant do that.

"Believe it or not a lot of visiting fans call me names and it would be easy for me to do a similar thing but you just can't do that, you can't gesture.

"It's disappointing, as much as he has been provoked there is nobody can support him I am afraid."

Only 24 hours before the Wolves match, Warnock had praised Kuqi's performance against Bristol City last Monday, and suggested he would get a run in the first team.

He said: "When I spoke to him at half time about where I wanted him to change slightly he responded by listening and doing what I wanted him to do and he was a threat.

"So now he has an opportunity to have a few run of games with Jamie Scowcroft suspended next week as well so it will be interesting to see how he copes."

Whether Kuqi, who has netted just eight times in 46 appearances for the Eagles, will be given another chance this Saturday against Preston is in doubt, although with Scowcroft unavailable, Warnock refused to rule it out.

He said: "You will have to wait and see as I think we have five players out."
