Carl Fletcher insists he harbours no bad feelings towards manager Neil Warnock after losing the captain's armband to Mark Hudson on a permanent basis.
The midfielder lost the role earlier in the season when he was out of the side through injury and the form of Shaun Derry and Ben Watson had kept him out since.
However, he has started the last two games and the armband has remained with Hudson, with the big central defender also now taking over the captain's comments page in the matchday programme.
Fletcher said: "There are no bad feelings on my part. That's what managers do, they make decisions so you just get on with it.
"Mark has played well this season, he's a good solid defender for us. He puts in good performances on the pitch and earns the respect of the rest of his players."
Fletcher also revealed he was happy to be back in the side, with the start against Bristol City earlier this month his first in the League since early November.
He said: "It's nice to play. Obviously we are disappointed with the results at the minute but it's nice to be out there.
"It's disappointing when you are out of the team but it's part and parcel of football really. You have just got to get on with it, keep your head down and work hard and hopefully things will turn round for you. You have to be ready when the opportunity comes along and try and keep focussed on what you have to do."
