Notting Hill is preparing for thousands to descend as the iconic Notting Hill Carnival makes its long-awaited return this August Bank Holiday. 

There's set to be incredible floats, displays, amazing customers, scrumptious food and much more. 

But getting to the festivities might be harder than usual this year, as huge crowds are expected and London bus drivers announced they would be walking out over the bank holiday weekend.

Don't panic just yet though, as there are still plenty of useful transport links that can still get you to the carnival without missing out on any of the fun. 

We've even saved you a job and worked out all the ways that you can get to Notting Hill Carnival this weekend. 

How to get to Notting Hill Carnival

Driving:

If you were thinking of driving to the festival, you might need to re-think as many roads in the area will be closed to make way for the parade.

Tube:

If you're taking the tube you'll need to check the route before you head out.

The nearest tube stations for the carnival are: 

  • Notting Hill Gate (Exit only from 11am-7pm)
  • Royal Oak (Exit only 11am-6pm, then shut)
  • Westbourne Park (Exit only 11am-6pm)

There are some planned tube works taking place on the bank holiday weekend that you will also need to be made aware of. 

Those planned works are (According to TfL): 

Elizabeth Line: Services between Paddington and Abbey Wood will operate on Monday to Saturday only, between 6:30am to 11pm.

London Overground: Reduced Service, Changes to Gospel Oak to Barking Riverside services from Monday 29 August to Friday 2 September: Trains at 0548 from Barking Riverside to Gospel Oak and at 0639 from Gospel Oak to Barking Riverside will not run. In addition, from Tuesday to Friday, the 0733 from Gospel Oak to Barking Riverside train will not run.

Metropolitan Line: On Saturday August 27, Sunday 28 and Monday 29, there will be no service between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Watford/Amersham/Chesham. Replacement buses operate. No Chiltern Railways services between Marylebone and Amersham.

Waterloo & City Line: Closed on weekends and public bank holidays. 

London Trams: Saturday August 22 to Sunday October 3, no service between Reeves Corner and East Croydon.
