A Balham woman abandoned a baby while she tried to use a forged credit card.
The 29-year-old ran off leaving a pram with the seven-month old girl when she was challenged by staff in Marks and Spencer in Bromley, Kent last Thursday.
A man she was with was later arrested and told police he was the baby's godfather and had no details of the real dad or mum.
A 27-year-old man came forward the next day claiming to be the dad.
The girl was taken into police protection and placed with foster carers. The matter is now with Social Services.
A 29-year-old woman from Balham and 20-year-old man from Brixton were later given a police caution for attempted fraud by false representation.
