While many people will be saddened to hear that the Post Office wants to close four branches in Sutton some of us will perhaps think that the borough has got away lightly.
The ones earmarked for closure will no doubt be missed by many people, but it could have been a lot worse.
The Wrythe Lane one in Carshalton, for instance, has a handful of others in its surrounding streets.
Some of the others which will no doubt close are attached to shops so the post masters or mistresses are unlikely to lose too much sleep over their passing.
Those who run the doomed branches are also in line for generous handouts from the Government, which should soften the blow further as well.
No doubt, particularly with elections in the air, some will seek to make political gain from the Post Office's plans. But things do not last forever and we have to move on.
As some pointed out last week, lots of benefits and pensions are paid straight into bank accounts so the number of people who actually need to go into post offices has fallen dramatically in recent years.
You can also pay most of your bills on the internet, if you have access to what use to be called the information super highway, and also car tax.
What concerns me more than post office closures is the sight of my postie only arriving with my first class mail at four o'clock in the afternoon.
