Three youths who caused thousand of pounds of damage at Esher College were caught on CCTV at the time of the incident.
Surrey Police released footage of the three youths outside the college in Weston Green Road on Sunday January 20 between 1am and 3.44am.
The fire was started deliberately and caused damage to the college's car port and workshop area.
Detectives also want to speak to a possible witness who is described as a young male with olive skin and medium build. He was wearing a blue sweater.
Detective Constable Mark McCabe, who is leading the investigation, said: "This was a dangerous attack which caused extensive damage to the car port and storage area.
"Fortunately no one was injured in the incident and due to the time of day the college was closed.
"However, this offence clearly had the potential to be much more serious and those responsible must be brought to justice."
Anyone with information should call DC McCabe at Epsom CID on 0845 125 2222, quoting reference A/08/1574.
