The average Kingston resident is responsible for 2.4 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions from household gas and electricity use every year - the equivalent of a small car driving nearly 12,000 miles.
The figures from the Department for the Environment, Farms and Rural Affairs ranked the Royal borough's homes the 10th worst of London's local authority areas for energy consumption.
