Neil Warnock has hailed Clinton Morrison's hard work for Crystal Palace, despite the striker only scoring once in the last 14 matches.

The Irish front man is Palace's leading scorer this season with 14 goals but has often found himself played out wide with James Scowcroft preferred through the middle with in a 4-3-3 formation.

However, with Scowcroft struggling to recover from a hamstring injury before the end of the season, Morrison is Palace's only experienced striker and played on his own up front on Monday at Stoke, and Warnock praised that performance.

He said: "I thought that was probably Clinton's most professional performance this season as a team player.

"I think he led the line well and talked non-stop to both the wide lads and yet he knew he wasn't going to get much joy because he had two center-halfs clattering him all the time but they didn't get clear headers.

"We knew that he couldn't beat them in the air but if he made a good challenge it meant they weren't going to head the ball 40 yards and they didn't. I thought he was super for the team."

Scowcroft is definitely out of tomorrow's game with Scunthorpe United, who could be relegated if they lose, and is unlikely to be fit for next week's trip to Watford.

Victor Moses may play if he recovers from the injury that forced him off against Stoke after spending most of the week in an oxygen tent to aid his recovery.
