A man who has now been questioned twice about the murder of Ashtead divorcee Sharon Birchwood was released again last night.

Graham Birchwood, the victim's ex-husband, returned to Surrey Police's headquarters in Guildford yesterday to be grilled again by detectives.

The 54-year-old was later released by police and had his bail extended to September 24, 2008.

His father, Colin Birchwood, said his son had been coping but was under a lot of pressure.

"There was a crack in his voice when I spoke to him," he said, speaking to the Epsom Guardian today. "He's been put through a lot."

A police spokeswoman confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
