MP and Government health minister Ann Keen has welcomed the UK's first ever prostate cancer masterclass.
The Under Secretary of State addressed delegates at the inaugural two-day class entitled The Whole Journey Counts: Choices and Dilemmas, at Kings College, London.
The masterclasses will continue with lectures, workshops and discussion forums led by prostate cancer specialists. They are designed to help hospital and health professionals who care for men with prostate cancer.
Mrs Keen, MP for Brentford and Isleworth, said: "These people all play a crucial role in the care and support of men with prostate cancer. The masterclass is an excellent forum for improving their expertise and enhancing their specialist knowledge of prostate cancer."
Key themes of the classes include screening, recently developed treatment options and new therapies.
Every year in the UK 35,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer and every hour at least one man dies from it.
African Caribbean men are three times more likely to be diagnosed with the disease.
