A 75-year-old man was knocked unconscious by a random man in a “shocking” and “unprovoked” assault in Croydon.
Police have now released an image of a man they want to identify in connection with the incident.
On January 23, officers were called to Whitehorse Road in Croydon after the 75-year-old man was assaulted.
The victim, who had been out with his wife, was punched and fell unconscious as a result.
An investigation has been launched by Met Police, and no arrests have been made.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Matthew Southwold, said: "This was a shocking assault on a 75-year-old man that was completely unprovoked.
"The victim has been left with both physical and psychological trauma from this incident and we need to identify and arrest the man responsible as soon as we can.
"If you recognise the man pictured, please call police on 101, quoting CAD 3981/23Jan”.
The full statement from Met Police said: “Police were called to Whitehorse Road in Croydon, on Monday, 23 January after it was reported the victim had been punched by a man.
“The victim, who was walking with his wife, was knocked unconscious as a result of the blow from the man, who was not known to him.
“An investigation has been launched but no arrests have been made.
