Two youths have been taken to hospital and one arrest has been made after a stabbing in Croydon.

Police received multiple calls at 5.25pm yesterday (March 20) to reports of a large group of youths fighting in Church Street.

Two youths, both believed in their teens, had suffered stab injuries, and were taken to hospital.

Both their conditions have been assessed as non-life-threatening.

At least one youth has been arrested and an extensive crime scene is in place.

The Met Police were granted a Section 60 Order from 7.15pm last night until 6am today (March 21).

A Section 60 Order grants police additional stop and search powers.

 

It comes as another man has been taken to hospital in a “critical” condition following a stabbing on Elmwood Road in Croydon around an hour before this incident was reported.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police received multiple calls at 17:25hrs on Monday, 20 March to reports of a large group of youths fighting in Church Street, Croydon.

“Two youths, both believed in their teens, had suffered stab injuries.

“They have been taken to hospital.

“Both their conditions have been assessed as non-life-threatening.

“At least one youth has been arrested.

“An extensive crime scene is in place.

“A Section 60 Order granting police additional stop and search powers has been authorised from 1915hrs to 0600hrs.”
