Four men have been arrested following a police chase where a stolen vehicle was found containing “dangerous weapons and drugs.”

Police spotted a stolen car which they believed had been involved in multiple burglaries and high-value thefts across Kent, Surrey and London.

Officers from across three units worked together to arrest four men aged between 17 and 22 in Sutton.

The group allegedly tried to escape the officers both in the vehicle and on foot.

Officers stopped the car and searched it, discovering knives, car robbery kits, cash and sets of number plates.

Sutton Police’s Twitter account praised the officers for their “swift thinking” and were pleased that “dangerous weapons and drugs have been removed from our streets”.

Sutton Police tweeted: “ARRESTED | Last night officers from across the Met and other surrounding counties spotted a stolen car that is believed to have been involved in multiple burglaries and high-value thefts across Kent, Surrey and London.

“Taking a borderless approach, officers worked collaboratively to pull together resources that ultimately lead to the arrest of four men aged between 17 and 22 in Sutton.

“Despite trying to escape by vehicle & foot, the 4 individuals inside the vehicle, that is believed to be stolen, were apprehended thanks to the teamwork of 3 police units.

“As part of the stop, officers recovered knives, car robbery kits, cash and sets of number plates.

“All four men are known to police for previous offending.

“Thanks to the dedication and swift thinking by officers, dangerous weapons and drugs have been removed from our streets.”
