A house fire in Twickenham which is now under investigation by the police has put two children and a woman in hospital.
25 firefighters and four fire engines attended the house fire on Morley Road on Sunday evening (April 23).
Half of the ground floor and part of the first floor of the property were destroyed in the blaze.
One woman in her 40s and two children were inside the house at the time of the fire but managed to leave before the fire brigade arrived.
However, they suffered from smoke inhalation and were taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service.
The fire brigade was first called at 8.03pm and firefighters from Richmond, Twickenham, and Heston fire stations responded to the call.
Firefighters extinguished the flames by 9.02pm.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade’s fire investigators and the Met police.
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a house on Morley Road in Twickenham on Sunday evening.
“Half of the ground floor and part of the first floor was destroyed by fire.
“One woman and two children left the property before the Brigade arrived.
“They were suffering with smoke inhalation and taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service.
“The Brigade was called at 8.03pm and the incident was over by 9.02pm.
“Fire crews from Richmond, Twickenham and Heston fire stations were in attendance.
“The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade’s fire investigators and the Met police.”
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called at about 20:10hrs on Sunday, 23 April following reports of a fire at a house on Morley Road in Twickenham.
"Police, the London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade attended.
"A woman in her 40s and two children were taken to hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation.
"The cause of the fire is under investigation. Enquiries continue."
