A man has been tasered by police after he is alleged to have “run at officers with a knife” outside of Tooting station.
Police were called to Tooting Railway Station at 6.45pm yesterday (April 25) after reports of a man with a knife in the area.
According to police, he ran towards the officers with the weapon when they arrived on scene.
A taser was discharged.
The video shows a man with a knife approaching the officers, who back away slowly.
The man is tasered and falls to the ground.
The man was then detained and subsequently arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon.
The knife was recovered by officers.
The man was treated for minor injuries and nobody else was injured.
He remains in custody at a south London police station.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police: “Police were called at about 6.45pm on Tuesday, 25 April to reports of a man in possession of a knife outside Tooting Railway Station.
“When officers arrived, the man ran towards them with a knife.
“Police discharged a Taser as the man was detained. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon.
“The knife has been recovered.
“The man, who is aged in his 50s, was treated for minor injuries. No one else was injured.
“He remains in custody at a south London police station.”
