A second arrest has been made in connection with a fatal stabbing in Croydon.

On Saturday, May 27, a man, 19, was arrested in the West Midlands on suspicion of the murder of Lucas Sutton, 22.

The man has been taken to a south London police station where he remains in custody.

Police were called to reports of a stabbing at 7.45pm on Tuesday, May 23 on Pawsons Road.

Officers were at the scene with London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance where Lucas was found with stab injuries.

He was taken to hospital where he was shortly afterwards pronounced dead.

A 16-year-old male appeared in custody at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Friday, May 26, charged with murder.

He will appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, May 31.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Detectives investigating a fatal stabbing in Croydon have made a second arrest.

“On Saturday, 27 May, a 19-year-old man [B] was arrested in the West Midlands on suspicion of the murder of Lucas Sutton.

“He has been taken to a south London police station where he remains in custody.

“Police were called at approximately 19:45hrs on Tuesday, 23 May to reports of a stabbing on Pawsons Road.

“Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance.

“At the scene 22-year-old Lucas was found with stab injuries. He was taken to hospital, where was pronounced dead a short time later.

“His family continues to be supported by specially trained officers.

“A 16-year-old male [A] appeared in custody at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 26 May charged with murder. He will next appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, 31 May.”
