Two people have been charged with the murder of Nelly Akomah in Croydon.

Hugo Da Silva Pires, 28, of Fernham Road, Thornton Heath was charged on Sunday, (June 25) with murder, burglary and fraud.

Catia Feliciano, 31, of Fernham Road, Thornton Heath, was charged with fraud and perverting the course of justice.

The pair were arrested at Stanstead Airport on Friday (June 23) and will appear in custody at Bromley Magistrates' Court today (June 26).

Detectives began an investigation after the body of 76-year-old Nelly Akomah was found at a residential property in Ladbrook Road at 10.40am on Wednesday, June 21.

Nelly's family have been informed of this development and are being supported by family liaison officers.

A post-mortem examination carried out on Thursday was inconclusive and more tests are to take place to establish the cause of death.
