A man from Croydon has avoided jail after a racially aggravated attack on a member of staff in an Epsom KFC.
On June 24, 2022, Luke Green of The Waldon’s in Croydon, threw a drink at a staff member and racially abused him at the fast-food restaurant on Epsom High Street.
Police have described the incident as a hate crime and say that Green’s behaviour was “abhorrent”.
Green, 32, was sentenced to eight weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, at Guildford Magistrates Court on June 13, 2023.
Inspector Jon Vale, Borough Commander for Epsom and Ewell, said: “Hate crime is completely unacceptable and Green’s behaviour during this incident was abhorrent.
“I hope that this case shows that if you are a victim of hate crime, we will take your report seriously and we will investigate to the best of our ability to hold perpetrators like Green to account for their actions."
