An 18-year-old man has died after becoming trapped under a Mercedes car on the A3 near Shannon’s Corner.
The incident occurred at 3.44am this morning (July 4) when police were alerted to reports of an injured pedestrian.
Both police officers and paramedics were sent to the scene.
The crash involved a pedestrian and a Mercedes vehicle, resulting in the man becoming trapped beneath the car.
An 18-year-old man passed away at the scene.
The authorities are currently working on notifying the man’s next of kin.
The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is cooperating with the police investigation.
To facilitate their investigation, a scene has been established and the road remains closed.
It stretches from the A298 (Shannon Corner) to the Coombe Lane Flyover.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have dash cam footage are encouraged to contact the police at 101, quoting the reference CAD 816/04JUL.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called to the A3 at 03.44hrs on Tuesday, 4 July to reports of an injured pedestrian.
"Officers attended along with paramedics from London Ambulance Service (LAS).
"A Mercedes car was found to have been involved in a collision with a pedestrian, who was trapped under the car.
"Despite the efforts of emergency services, the pedestrian, an 18-year-old man died at the scene.
"Enquiries are ongoing to notify his next of kin.
"The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is helping police with their enquiries.
"A scene has been put in place and the road has been closed.
"Any witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage is asked to call police on 101, quoting CAD 816/04jUL."
