A railway arch in south London has been damaged after a fire broke out this morning (July 18).
Firefighters were called to Black Prince Road in Lambeth at around 9am – four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were at the scene.
The fire on the railway arch caused heavy smoke to billow onto the railway track and damaged half of the arch.
The fire was under control by 10.22am and its cause will be investigated.
Fire crews from Lambeth and Soho fire stations attended the scene.
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire on Black Prince Road in Lambeth this morning.
“Firefighters tackled a fire on a railway arch, which was causing heavy smoke to billow onto the railway track and damaged half or the arch.
“The brigade was called at 9.04am and the fire was under control by 10.22am. Fire crews from Lambeth and Soho fire stations attended the scene.
“The cause of the fire will be investigated.”
