Police have said that a woman who was involved with a crash with a fire engine in Thornton Heath is currently in a critical condition in hospital.
The incident occurred at around 11.34am on September 26 at the junction of London Road and Brigstock Road.
The fire engine was answering an emergency call at the time of the accident and the incident is currently under investigation by London Fire Brigade.
The woman was initially treated by paramedics, before being transported to hospital by air ambulance where she currently remains.
Temporary road closures were put in place in the area whilst emergency services attend the scene.
London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: "At around 11.34am on 26 September, a fire engine was involved in a collision with a pedestrian on London Road in Thornton Heath.
“The pedestrian was treated at the scene by the London Ambulance Service and has now been taken to hospital by London’s Air Ambulance.
“The fire engine was responding to an emergency call at the time of the incident. The circumstances surrounding the collision are under investigation."
A Met Police spokesperson said earlier: "Officers were called at 11:38hrs on Tuesday, September 26, to London Road at the junction with Brigstock Road, Thornton Heath. A fire engine was reported to have been involved in a collision with a female pedestrian.
"LAS and London' Air Ambulance have attended the scene, the condition of the pedestrian awaits. There are road closures in place while emergency services deal."
