Police were called to a street near a school in Sutton yesterday after receiving reports that there was a man with a gun in the area.
Officers arrived at Ventnor Road near Overton Grange School at around 3pm (September 29) and found an individual in the area with a toy gun.
They told the person to put it in their bag to avoid causing any more panic in the area.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 14:56hrs on Friday, 29 September to reports of a man with an object that appeared to be a gun in Ventnor Road, Sutton.
“Officers attended and found the object was a toy gun.
“They advised the person carrying it to put it in their bag to avoid causing any further alarm.”
