A school in Mitcham has been evacuated this morning (Monday) after a chemical leak.
Firefighters were called to a school on the Commonside East after a report of a fridge leak.
As a precaution, around 450 people were evacuated from the building, with several being assessed by ambulance crews.
The firefighters used specialised equipment to check for any chemical substances but found no readings.
The incident was over for firefighters after 90 minutes.
A spokesperson from LFB said: “Firefighters were called to a report of a refrigerator leaking at a school on Commonside East in Mitcham this morning (December 11).
“Around 450 people were evacuated from the building as a precaution.
“Several people have been assessed at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews.
“Firefighters used specialist equipment to carry out a sweep of the building to check for elevated readings of chemical substances.
“No elevated readings were recorded.
“The Brigade was called at 10:23 and the incident was over for firefighters by 11:52.”
