Claremont Fan Court School celebrated a momentous occasion today (December 12) to mark the first year of its Claremont 100 fundraising campaign.

The Claremont 100 is a school-wide fundraising initiative that was launched in September 2022 to mark the school’s 100th birthday.

The aim was to raise awareness of the important work of local charities, encouraging pupils to raise £100,000.

The campaign has so far raised an impressive £60,000 for five local charities chosen by pupils at the school: Rentstart, Elmbridge Foodbank, The Grace Dear Trust, Momentum and Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.

At the celebration tea, William Brierly, headmaster, thanked the sponsors, the Friends of Claremont, pupils and members of staff for their hard work and efforts in raising such a substantial amount of money and presented each charity with a cheque for £12,066.92. 

Theo from Year 1 collected the cheque on behalf of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices as a reward for his individual effort of raising £465, running a fitness event for his fellow pupils.

Mr Brierly said: “We are absolutely delighted to have raised over £60,000 in our first year of the Claremont 100 fundraising campaign.

“This is a fantastic achievement, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us.

“We are proud to be able to work with such important charities and we look forward to continuing to raise money for them in the years to come.

“For our pupils the Claremont 100 campaign has raised awareness of the invaluable work each of these charities do and taught them about the importance of community and the act of giving back.”
