Police have said that there is no suggestion of a connection between two recent stabbings near Sutton railway station.
A second attack occurred there yesterday just over a fortnight after a 17-year-old boy was fatally stabbed.
At around 8.30pm on December 21, officers were alerted to a victim who had admitted himself to a local hospital with stabbing injuries.
It is believed he was attacked in the vicinity of Sutton railway station.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed on December 22 that the victim's condition had been assessed and found not to be life-threatening.
Police enquiries are ongoing, with no arrests made at this stage.
These events follow the killing of 17-year-old student, Ilyas Habibi, just weeks earlier in the same area on December 5.
Just minutes after arriving at Sutton High Street by train, Ilyas was involved in an altercation with a suspect, who is still at large.
Detective Chief Inspector Mike Nolan, who heads up the investigation, was quoted saying: "Ilyas had suffered fatal wounds.
"It isn’t clear if the suspect was also injured.
"If you know the suspect, or if you are him, please get in touch."
Emergency services, including the London Ambulance and Air Ambulance, were sent to the scene to the scene on December 5 around 7.08pm.
They treated the teen at the scene, but Ilyas was declared dead just before 8am.
His family have been informed and are currently receiving assistance from specialist police officers.
His post-mortem examination is yet to take place.
Both Sutton High Street and areas around the train station were closed off for several days, as investigators and forensic teams extensively surveyed the scene.
In relation to the incident which occurred yesterday, a spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “An investigation is underway following a stabbing in Sutton.
“Police were called at around 8.25pm on Thursday December 21 to a south London hospital after a man self-presented with stab injuries.
“The 21-year-old victim’s injuries are thankfully not life-threatening or life changing.
“At this early stage it is believed the victim was assaulted close to Sutton Railway Station.
“There is no reason to connect last night’s incident with any other recent events.
“CCTV footage from the area is now being reviewed as part of the investigation. There have been no arrests so far and enquiries continue.
“Anyone with information is asked to call police via ‘101’ or ‘X’ @MetCC quoting reference CAD 6870/21Dec.
"You can also report information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
