A 19-year-old man has appeared in court charged with stabbing Michael Patrick Afonso Peixoto to death. 

On December 19, 2023 at 10.30pm police were called to Mayfield Crescent in Thornton Heath.

Mr Peixoto, 27, was found with stab wounds and died from his injuries. Metropolitan Police said that enquiries into his murder remain ongoing.

John Budal, 19, of Ena Road in Streatham, has been charged with murder and appeared in court.

Budal appeared in Bromley Magistrates Court on Saturday (December 30) charged with murder, robbery, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of cannabis.

Budal was remanded in custody and will appear at the Old Bailey on January 3.

Metropolitan Police said that a group of men are believed to have been involved in the attack on Mr Peixoto.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on December 24 and was bailed pending further enquiries.
