Over the years we have loved and lost many pubs in Sutton.
Pubs can be a great place for memories and to spend time with friends and families.
But unfortunately, for various reasons, we’ve had to say goodbye to a lot of them and have never seen them reopen as of 2024.
The team at Your Local Guardian has made a list of the pubs that once stood in Sutton but have closed their doors.
The Academy – formerly stood at 54-56 Grove Road. Closed: 2007.
The Angel – formerly stood at 77 Angel Hill. Opened from the early 1800s to 2011.
Blackwater Tavern – formerly stood at George Street.
Cock Hotel – formerly stood at Sutton High Street. Opened from 1907 to 1961.
Dolphin – formerly stood at 316 High Street. Opened from 1977 to 2011.
Grapes – formerly stood at 198 High Street. Opened from 1867 to 2018.
Litten Tree – formerly stood at 3 High Street. Opened from 1936 to 2005.
New Town – formerly stood at Lind Road. Opened from 1893 to 2013.
Prince Regent – formerly stood at 346 High Street. Closed: 2015.
Queen Victoria - formerly stood at 236 Church Hill Road. Opened from 1935 to 2013.
The Sydney Arms – formerly stood at Sydney Road. Opened from 1882 to 2011.
The Victory – formerly stood at 50 William Road. Closed: 2006.
The Woodman - formerly stood at Lower Road. Closed: 2010.
The Woodstock – formerly stood at 1 Stonecot Hill. Closed: 2015.
