Croydon has been shortlisted as one of the "most depressing" places to live in the UK, along with three other towns in London.
A review site, iLiveHere.com, recently highlighted four London neighbourhoods - Croydon, Orpington, Hounslow, and Shoreditch - as among some of the UK's most depressing places to live.
The selection was made as part of a UK-wide poll, where users voted to identify areas, resulting in 153 places shortlisted across the UK, with four London areas on the list.
Although London is popular with many tourists, boasting art galleries, historical sites and culinary experiences, some find it less than desirable for living.
Croydon, home to bright green trams, Boxpark, and the Airport Visitor Centre, has often drawn attention for its negative reputation.
Croydon residents have previously criticised its "depressing" high street and the continued delays to the long-anticipated Westfield shopping centre.
According to the statement from the review site, iLiveHere.com, the towns were characterised as areas of "bland, boring, soul-destroying mediocrity with a gaping cultural void", and as "towns where you just exist rather than live".
In their 2023 poll, iLiveHere.com declared Luton in Bedfordshire as the UK's worst place to live, with over 100,000 people casting their votes.
Norwich, Aylesbury, and Darlington were chosen as the top three most desirable UK towns to live in 2023.
