A new Lidl is set to open in Southside Shopping Centre in Wandsworth, creating around 40 full-time jobs.
Lidl GB has confirmed its plans after exchanging contracts for a new unit in the busy shopping area
The supermarket, which recently overtook Asda to become the third largest supermarket in London, will neighbour Boots and occupy a 19,031 sq ft unit.
The introduction of the new store represents a substantial investment and is expected to boost local employment opportunities.
Boasting Lidl's award-winning in-store bakery, and the favoured Middle of Lidl aisle, the supermarket giant assures that Wandsworth residents will gain access to their best value products.
Max Clapton, Regional Head of Property at Lidl GB, said: "We are delighted to be able to confirm plans to bring a new Lidl store to the Southside Shopping Centre in Wandsworth.
"Local households are currently lacking an accessible discount supermarket, so we’re excited to deliver our high-quality produce at the best possible value to those living in the area."
Pieter Strömbeck, Centre Director at Southside Shopping Centre, added: "We pride ourselves on being a place that integrates and connects with the communities of Wandsworth, and are thrilled to welcome the area’s first Lidl store.
"The supermarket will be a great new addition to the centre, and we’re confident that the local community will be excited for the arrival of this affordable and conveniently located store, enhancing our offering at Southside."
Lidl will take possession of the unit this week, after which work will commence to transform the space.
It is predicted that customers will be able to access the shop by summer, so job hunters are encouraged to monitor vacancies on Lidl's careers page.
Since launching nearly 30 years ago, Lidl's combination of quality and value has engaged shoppers across the country, a quality confirmed by The Grocer's latest analysis, which positioned Lidl as the cheapest supermarket for a basket of everyday items.
