Three people have managed to escape from a house fire in Wallington.
Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a house fire on The Drive just after 11.30pm on Tuesday, January 24.
Most of the roof and loft extension and part of the first floor of a two-storey house was damaged by the blaze.
Three people left the house before fire crews got to the scene and no injuries were reported.
The fire was under control shortly before 2am.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled a house fire on The Drive in Wallington.
“Most of the roof and loft extension, as well as part of the first floor of a two-storey detached house was damaged by fire.
“Three people left the house before firefighters arrived and there were no reports of any injuries.
“One of the Brigade's 32 metre turntable ladders was used as a water tower to help extinguish the fire.
“The Brigade was called at 2341 and the fire was brought under control by 0151. Crews from Wallington, Purley, Clapham, Croydon and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
“The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
