Wahaca Wimbledon has undergone a makeover that compliments the wonderful Mexican street food that the restaurant has on offer – and locals can now get a £20 voucher off to experience the new reimagined venue in February.
I got the chance to visit the restaurant following its short closure for refurbishment and enjoyed the new appearance as well as the food and personable service.
Wahaca’s plates are each a burst of flavour and I find they are always reasonably priced and consistently good.
The set menus offer a chance to explore something that you might not have tried before with each visit.
In a group, there's an assurance that everyone will find a dish to enjoy– making it a whole experience rather than just a meal.
The classics set menu was brilliant with Free Range Pork Pibil Tacos, offering succulent slow-cooked pork, alongside the Free Range Chicken Club Quesadilla's fusion of tender chicken and gooey cheese.
Sustainable Battered Fish Tacos provide ethically sourced crispiness, while vegetarian options like Sweet Potato & Feta Taquito and Zesty Bean & Feta Tostadas deliver diverse, flavourful choices – with the Taquito was a surprising favourite.
An extra treat was the current special, the Seasonal Veg Tetela, a crispy tortilla parcel filled with roasted vegetables, black beans, topped with feta, avocado salsa, and cashew crema.
It served as the perfect side dish and was actually my favourite dish and did steal the spotlight.
The recent revamp of the Wimbledon venue resulted in a welcomed facelift.
The interior now boasts inviting terraces with vibrant walls and lighting, creating a communal food hall vibe that resonates with the spirit of Mexican street food.
I must say though I do miss the two Day of the Dead statues and hope they return to venue.
Optimizing space at the venue seemed like a key focus as seating has been rearranged and reprioritised, with the introduction of a revamped bar area.
Service continued to shine during my visit despite it being a busy Monday night with many eager to make the best of their £20 voucher.
The exceptional waitress, Cristina, went above and beyond, letting us savour both Churro dips and even sharing the recipe for their renowned pork tacos and some peppers to grow at home.
Taking a bit of Wahaca home with me added a special touch to an already memorable dining adventure.
Wimbledon locals are currently being offered £20 off their menu so that they can experience the new restaurant revamp.
You must spend a minimum of £10 on top of the £20 voucher.
Note that the offer allows for a maximum of one voucher per two people dining and deal is available only at Wahaca Wimbledon.
