A "shocking and disturbing" incident in broad daylight saw a group of males armed with machetes clashing in the street in Stockwell, leaving a 16-year-old hospitalised.
Police called to reports of a fight on Stockwell Road around 1.56pm on February 23.
Officers explained that there were many members of the public in the area at the time of the attack.
Detective Chief Inspector Adam Seton of Central South Command Unit said: “It must have been extremely alarming and distressing for them.
“Police officers were on scene within three minutes and quickly made an arrest.
"I would like to reassure the community that an investigation is underway and enquiries are ongoing.”
A teenager, believed to be 16-years-old, was arrested after being found with a slash to the head and was taken to hospital.
His condition is not life-threatening.
Police have said that they are also pursuing "a number of other people involved".
Any witnesses are asked to contact police on 101 quoting crime reference number CAD 3597/23 Feb.

A video of what appears to be the violent incident has since surfaced online, showing three males brandishing machete-like weapons before fleeing the area.

"Many members of the public were present and it must have been extremely alarming and distressing for them. Police officers were on scene within three minutes and quickly made an arrest.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at around 13:56hrs on Friday, 23 February to reports of a group of males fighting in Stockwell Road. Some were reported to be armed with weapons.
“Officers were on scene within three minutes.
“One male, believed to be aged 16, was found with a laceration to his head. He was taken to hospital. His condition is not life-threatening.
“He has also been arrested in connection with the incident.
“Enquiries to trace a number of other people involved are ongoing.”
