A popular Sutton café has been named the winner of an award and runner-up for another at the Time and Leisure Food and Culture Awards 2024.
LA Café was shortlisted to win two awards at this year's awards in the categories of Best Coffee/Tea House and the #Lovesuttonbiz award.
The business, located on Sutton High Street, was named winner of the #Lovesuttonbiz award and received a Recommended award in the category of Best Coffee/Tea House.
The awards ceremony took place on March 19, where the finalists across 19 categories were announced.
LA Café is owned by Ankur Baria and first opened nearly three years ago in May 2021, serving a mix of French and British cuisine.
Ankur said: “We are over the moon and overwhelmed with the achievements, awards and recognition received for our little LA Cafe this year alone.
“This award is by far the most prestigious for us.
“We can’t thank our patrons and family of our customers enough, for the massive support they have shown towards us.
“It feels great to be recognised on such a large platform, where 100's of businesses are doing their best and you make it to the top.
“It’s a clear example of relentless dedication towards work and working hard with consistency right from the first day.“
The awards, run by Time & Leisure Luxury Lifestyle Magazine, bring together the best of the culture and hospitality industry across south west London and Surrey, with categories ranging from Fine Dining Restaurant of the Year to Best Pub or Bar.
Last year the café was also named a winner in the Good Food Awards 2024, marking the second year running that the business won the award.
The menu features a continuously changing soup selection with different daily specials which, according to owner Ankur Baria, “never get repeated.”
The café also serves a range of coffees from the Gorgeous Coffee company, along with a range of baked goods, desserts and breakfast rolls made in-house.
Some of the café’s most popular dishes include their Breakfast Baps served in pretzel bread buns with their” signature” truffle sauce, and their French-style scrambled eggs.
